We are looking for an artist to create a unique modern expression of the Magician Card from the Rider-Waite tarot. We will consider all types of illustration be it digital collage, digital illustrations, watercolor etc.

An artist will be selected. However, if we can envision it as a full deck we would want to work with the selected artist/s to complete the complete 72 card deck. Please do not submit a design if you are not in a position to design any more.

We will require 100% copyright on the design.
Size: 70 x 118 mm

this might sound like a stupid question but I believe it is an important one...
Lİke for example shall I go for a theme for Tarot cards: I would go for "Gravity Falls" as there is an endless series of resources to grab from.
BUT then comes the point of copy-writes.. I am not sure you can sell these later on shall you have so such things in it... Then the same would actually apply if we were to put a magician like Teller or a famous one like Copperfield... I am not sure if you would be bale to sell these (IF that is the goal)...
So my question is pretty much how are we limited to modernizing the entries? The Mine craft sword was genius! But is that a very bad idea for the competitor to be doing this as to guaranteeing that theirs will not be selected from the lot?

Not much time left and I wanted to do more than one to have a sort of "style" throughout... But now as I scrap my idea (Yeah: Gravity falls) through fear of disqualification I need to start over.
