The strong current interest in multimedia is evident in the increasing use of interactive visual information on home and office computers. There are many areas in which multimedia technology offers scope to enhance, if not transform, traditional methods. Some random examples include: **the training of fire-fighters**, **access to historical and cultural treasures**, **the role of multimedia in distance learning,** etc. Similar examples may be identified in the areas of commerce, scientific research, and entertainment.

You should start off by scanning information sources (such as magazines, journals, books, newspapers, on-line and CD-ROM databases, the World Wide Web) for ideas.
Depending upon your chosen area, you may need to extend your research beyond the Harrow campus, to other libraries.
You are warned to be highly selective in your use of material published on the Web since, unlike material published in scientific journals, this is unlikely to have been subjected to peer review. .
Your report should be typed on A4 paper, and should be 1000 (+/- 10%) **excluding** reference list.
