Job Description:

When working in the commercial construction business for multi residential, calculating floor prep requirements and costings for timber flooring based on the surveyors report and the requirements for the individual apartment was very difficult.

It was also affected by the requirements for the window sills, adjoining tiled and carpeted areas and, balcony and common hall, and even survey results for apartments close by when the initial slab pour was significantly out of spec.

I built a spreadsheet which calculates the costings based on per mm/sqm, what I need is a program that will read the data from the surveyor in an apartment plan (they provide this in an electronic format), then the user specifies parameters such as certain areas that need to be flat and level, flooring limitations (eg 3mm variation over 3m).

The idea is that the program would calculate the most efficient cost basis floor preparation requirement (grinding vs self leveling) using the survey, cost analysis, flooring limitations and apartment parameters. This would then instruct the floor prep contractor what to do and reduce cost whilst giving a pricing guideline to the builder.

This program would be developed exclusively for a Perth based builder and would be considered proprietary information.
