I need a CAD program developed that will create the path of a line (similar to determining a machining path) of a given length and spacing pattern. Their is an underlying grid pattern with the path must follow. The grid pattern will need to be overlaid onto an existing 2D closed shape and then the best fit path determined within 5% of the input length. Some variation from the defined spacing pattern will be allowed (within defined limits) in order to create the path that is closest to the input line length. The 2D shape may contain arcs and angles. It is understood that the grid will not match the closed shape exactly so there will be some "trimming" along the perimeter. User inputs will include closed shape, line length, selected spacing pattern and start point for line. The x,y grid spacing, and grid spacer shape will also be entered but they must be able to be saved with a name to a library so the user will have the choice of entering custom values or pick from the library of values. The path cannot cross itself and be as close to the perimeter as possible. The spacing pattern will also need to be savable in a library do the user cab select from predefined patterns. Program need to run as an app in GSTAR CAD 2018. See attachments for more explanation.
