This job is to edit a transcribed interview file and turn it into an e-book.
The job of the editor is to turn the spoken word content into a book-like format. For example, removing ‘you know’, ‘sort of’, ‘like that’ and other spoken joining phrases or replacing them with more appropriate written form words. Ensuring that the final file reads like a written book rather than an interview. The transcribed Word file already has had a very minor edit and includes an outline and lists the main headings.
The e-book topic is on drawing cars, so an understanding of drawing theory and/or cars would be beneficial.
As the document is a transcribed file, there may be sections of text which don’t make sense and will need clarification from the original audio file (which I will provide a link to for the successful bidder).
I’ve attached a sample text section and audio file. I’ll be supplying the complete transcribed file and links to the audio files to the successful bidder.
The file to be edited is 23,639 words and contains illustrations to describe the steps and some concepts.
You should be an experienced editor with English as your first language.
I would like to see an example of your work. If possible, please do a quick edit the attached Word file as per my job description. Otherwise a few pages will do, preferably a before and after example of your rewriting or editing if possible.
Please confirm how long you think this job will take when placing your bid.
Editing a transcribed interview (MS Word file supplied to successful bidder) from a spoken word format to a written book format. The final output needs to read like a written piece as opposed to just a transcribed interview with all the spoken ‘filler’ included. Ensure that the final file presents the book’s concepts clearly in an easy to read form.
I believe the job will be straightforward as it is not rewriting the existing text but to make it read more like a book format that just a pure transcription of an interview. Removing ‘filler’ words and adding or clarifying some text sections when required.
I will be very easy to work with and fair on this project. Please note however that I retain the right to reject any or all work if it is of poor quality and this will result in you re-writing it or the bid being cancelled. I will expect re-writes until I am happy with it. This will be at my sole discretion. If you do good work upfront, though, you should not be concerned about this.
