We are a tourism based ESL School - "lifelong learners" are encouraged to practice their English and apply their daily learning in real contexts, events and scenarios.
From June 24 to August 30 we require a teacher for half-day lessons (usually 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM). Location is central and/or may change*
Our educational curriculum is designed based on the activity schedule - we visit a new tourist attraction or local business in Ottawa every day. Morning lessons are intended to prepare students for their tourist experiences in Ottawa.
The curriculum is prepared, lesson plans are roughly laid out/suggested for you with access to some educational resources you may choose to use (We encourage your personal style to shine through; please feel free to incorporate your own resources and instructional strategies as you see fit). The focus here is NOT on rote learning - fun, conversation based lessons with practical framework as required. Our learners should never be bored or restless in their seats. *Sometimes, based on the activity for the day, we may host the lesson on-site (for example, at the museum) in order to quickly transition to the applied activities.
You will teach diverse international adults (estimated 18-60 years old) in groups of 12-16. We are looking for someone who is culturally aware and respectful, has teaching experience to small groups, is a native English speaker (for pronunciation and accent) and may be flexible with some times/dates. Current schedule required is Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings 9 - 12, with some flexibility.
