Connection between services and pods inside Kubernetes is very slow

Job Description:

I have kubernetes cluster installed on bare metal on-premises servers , I have 12 services running on this cluster . I have one gateway that redirects all requests to proper services and return back response from them to clients .

Single service can handle request in 200 milliseconds but with gateway it takes 350 or 400 millisecond .

I need the help for optimise it to lower down to 250 milliseconds
