You Can't Thread A Moving Needle...
I don't quite know how to describe it. It's a parody about lesbians I guess. More like a cocktail book kind of genre? A book of some sort with 2 pages devoted to each state. The first page of each state 1 has a rhyme and provides state facts. The second page provides the illustrations.
So imagine a book maybe 6 x 8 and when you open it up- the front side of the left page has the rhymes and state facts and the front side of the right page has an illustration. And this is the case for every US state.
The book has a short history part and a forward from my lesbian twin sister and her partner- they make it absolutely clear this book is to make people laugh that's the 100% intention and if it somehow offends you (which couldn't be further from the intention) then pass on it.
Right now I am looking for help in the 4 areas below. The word content and the illustrations are done for each state but now it's a matter of laying it all out, checking it, fine tuning it, etc. to the point of when it's done it's ready to go to print.
1. I think much of the fine tuning (spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. has already been done), but certainly needs to be reviewed for accuracy.
2. The types of font to be used, what the talking bubbles could look like, designs on the page, page size, etc. (I have examples of what I am referencing)
3. I could also use assistance with other components. Do the illustrations all need to be the same size? Should it be black and white? Can it have some color? What size should the book/pages be? The quality of the pages and illustrations. ETC. Can pages be set up and look different? (I have examples of what I am referencing here as well)
4. I had a prior editor and I can explain that situation to you as well. I think much of the basic work is done. In any event, it will be important for me to bring you to the "here and now" so you're as up to speed as I am on the project. There's a lot of unanswered questions and ideas I have still percolating which didn't get the attention they should have and I can forward those emails to you as well.
Some of the e-mails are thoughts and others ideas while still others are updates- many of them good, which didn't go anywhere. These emails have thoughts/ideas on bubbles, page designs, color, fonts, gimmicks, etc.
Some of these emails are already addressed in numbers 1 - 3 above and some are not.
They would be worth taking a look at- most of them have some level of redundancy and the majority are very short- about 50 of them.
How does it get to the point of being ready to market? What are all the additional things that need to be added, reviewed, etc. to complete the book? Which standards have to be met?
How do you market to find a buyer? I want it to be hardcover I think and would prefer it not be self published. I want it to stand out, to be special somehow- the look and feel of a special edition.
Lets talk about numbers 1- 4 above and go from there.
THE 4 EXAMPLES BELOW SHOW A STATE WITH CONTEXT AND THEN DIAGRAM SO YOU CAN START TO SEE HOW EACH 2 PAGES WOULD LOOK WHEN OPENED UP TOGETHER. STILL A FAIR AMOUNT OF "PRETTYING-UP" TO BE DONE BUT I THINK THESE GIVE YOU A GENERAL IDEA.
(btw- the book is not necessarily supposed to make sense....I could make it like a travel guide with a chain on it, or not....or leave as is, or ???)
