2. Investigation of the impact of last year’s extreme climate in Ireland

Using meteorological data from Met Éireann, analyse last year’s (2019) climate (precipitation

and temperature) for the following weather stations (Bemullet, Birr, Casement, Clones, Cork

Airport, Dublin Airport, Kilkenny, Malin Head, Mullingar, Rosslare, Shannon Airport,

Valentia) in comparison to the 30 year mean values (1981-2010) (data supplied).

Monthly and annual data from 2019 can be obtained from the Met Éireann website

([login to view URL]). The project should produce a

series of national scale maps that show changes in temperature and precipitation for 2019 in

relation to the 30 year mean data, and also may investigate the timing of these changes across

the year by developing a series of maps that compare monthly data with the 30 year seasonal means.
