Illustration for Baking Contest Logo

We are looking for a talented illustrator to create a beautiful finished logo for a Baking Contest our client is having. We have a rough sketch of what we would like drawn and some inspirational elements showing how we got to what we’d like.

Basic Requirements: A whimsical crab on top with a banner that has the word “Claw-some” on it. Then there should be a two layered (tilted, angled and stylized) cake made up from the words “CRAB” and “CAKE” with pink icing dripping down. This should all sit on a plate, and have the words “BAKE-OFF” in outline underneath. We are open to some interpretation if it makes sense for the design. Above all - this needs to be easy to read.

Final files should be a native Adobe Illustrator file. If you choose to use any Photoshop elements or textures, please make sure that these are included with the packaged files and that they are very high res. We will likely be using this logo for large signage, and if there is a raster image (Photoshop, TIF, JPG, PNG), we will need plenty of resolution. If it’s all vector - nothing to worry about resolution.

We are looking for more than just a flat cut-out look. We don’t need 3D, but we would like to see some highlights and whatever textures or shading that feels appropriate.

I have included a two page PDF, that includes some images that we liked that gave us the inspiration for the final design. I have included the (really rough) pen and ink sketch showing the collection of elements, styling and placement, and finally we have included the fonts we would like to use. I’m not able to provide the fonts since they are part of my Adobe Creative Cloud account. You’ll need to login to your Adobe Creative Cloud account and activate those three fonts.

NOTE: The Mighty Slab One font was a little too heavy when typed as is - so we removed about a stroke’s width from the outline of the lettering to make the text slightly easier to read. We’ll want this done for CRAB & CAKE so the letters are easy to read.

The “BAKE-OFF” font is just outlined and used to mimic the Great British Bake-Off font.
