I need a new website. I need you to design and build it. Project Scope:
This is a web based golf rating system for college students and recruiters.
The problem is college students don't know where they fit in with college golf. They need a system to tell them where they stand against the rest of the world.
A company did this in tennis already. See this website for more: https://www.myutr.com. In tennis, there is a rating system for professionals all the way down to juniors. It's called a UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) system.
Andy, a UNLV Golf Coach, created and patented an algorithm together with the UNLV Math Department to create a “UGR” (Universal Golf Rating) system.
The UTG data will rank all the players in the world, from professionals all the way down to juniors. So they can compare themselves to the next level up. This helps immensely for college recruiting and the data is available online for them to aggregate and process through their algorithm.
There will be "Log In" and "Sign Up" screens along with "Forgot Password" functionality.
There will be three types of users:
• Registered User (typically a student or a recruiter)
• Non-Registered User (the general public)
The dashboard will be a primarily content based page shown on first log in. It will show a UGR scale graphic along with a link to a YouTube video.
My Account > Settings:
• Ability to change the user’s email address and password.
My Account > Subscriptions:
• Your current plan.
• Billing History in table format showing payment method, plan expiration date, amount paid.
My Account > Saved Players:
• Not very important feature now, but will implement this in the future.
My Account > Player Reports:
• This is the database shown in a data table layout with field filters directly above it in drop-down menus. AJAX calls to update the data table to prevent refreshing of the page.
My Account > College Report:
• Same as the Player Reports, but for Colleges only. This is the database shown in a data table layout with field filters directly above it in drop-down menus. AJAX calls to update the data table to prevent refreshing of the page.
Enter a name and it displays instantly like typing "Duke" would display both players and colleges with "Duke" in the name.
The public will be able to see everyone’s rating in a data table style layout with sorting abilities in the column headers.
They will be able to filter, sort and search the results in the table.
The UGR will be displayed, ratings will range from 1 to 12.
There will need to be a limit in place on the number of search results and the number of profile views the public (a non-registered user) can see. This then forces the public user into a free trial (registered) user account which can run for X number of days, then expires – forcing the user to pay or revert back to limited use. Think a 14 Day Free Trial which unlocks the ability for unlimited profile views and unlimited search results. Then, the now registered user has to pay after 14 days.
Once the user pays the subscription, like $9.99/mo., then they will also get the ability to view the UGR to the decimal point - which is important data to know. It will matter if you're a 10.1 or a 10.9. That could be the difference between getting in to a college program and not getting in.
Or alternatively, provide 3 pricing plans:
1.) Free, but just offer the raw data UGR (the round number) and no college reporting tool.
2.) Paying monthly at a normal full-price rate.
3.) Paying yearly at a reduced monthly rate.
Example screen shot of the data table layout from [login to view URL]:
Database Upload Functionality:
The Administrator user will provide data for upload in a .CSV file. The Administrator has all of the data in an Excel spreadsheet and will continue to manage it locally. The UGR algorithm is calculated in the spreadsheet as well. The Administrator will just export the spreadsheet to CSV and then upload it into the website’s database via an Administrator user dashboard.
Each student user in the system will have a User Profile.
The profile will display:
• Profile photo
• First and Last Name
• City, State, Country
• Graduation Year
However, there will need to be the ability for a student to register/edit their own profile. Maybe a “claim profile” function? They are unsure. Recommendation here is needed.
The Administrator would like the ability to see a change in the UGR.
Example: “Your UGR changed +2.1 over last Year / Quarter / Month.” – having the ability to select a time period.
