We're looking for someone fluent in Japanese, who can artwork a publication for our Asian market. Some Knowledge of HTML to subsequently get the magazine content online would also be helpful. The magazine is produced twice a year. Once in April and once in October. The freelance contract would be 2-3 weeks work during both time periods of the year. The position would require you to work remotely from our Hong Kong office.
The role would involve you having to liaise with our Hong Kong office, where the content for the magazine is originated from. They will supply all text for the magazine already translated into Japanese. Then using our InDesign templates, you’d flow the copy in, and design the articles in line with our magazine style, ensuring that all text breaks at the end of each row splits correctly for the Japanese language. Once the articles are set, there is the process of you working with the Translators and Hong Kong office, until everything is signed off ready for printing. The magazine covers are designed by one of our existing in-house Designers at our UK office. So there’s no need for you to work on those for us. Also, we’d require you to check the print quality of any client supplied adverts for the publication. So you’ll need to know how to preflight PDFs. It’s important that when setting the magazine, you use the correct object styles that we’ve set up within our templates, in order that when the pages are exported to HTML, they will appear online correctly. We currently use a piece of software called CK Editor to assist in the online content rendering as it should.
The magazine will be approximately 88 pages and the production process will run from approx March 23 with the magazine going to press on, or before April 26 2017.
