My name is Amalia Renwick. Ross Renwick, of Billy Blue fame, was my father.
It’s hard to believe nearly a decade has passed since he left this mortal coil. Following his death, I have been collecting—and am now in possession of—an extraordinary amount of his creative material (from his poetry written in Paris during the 1960s, to a full collection of the Billy Blue magazines) that is matched only in the Powerhouse archives.
I believe there are many more examples of the Billy BLUE Group that was gifted to the Powerhouse at the wind up of the Business.
As I am discovering from conversations with people who knew or worked with Ross, he was much loved and admired, both within the business of Billy Blue and throughout the surfing community here on the Northern Beaches, as a man of kindness and generosity.
I have curated over 20 surf brands that my father created, some examples below.
And am working with Matt Leach from Australian Design Radio on a serial podcast involving conversations with Ross’s peer Artists, friends, early contributors to the Billy Blue MagazIne.
I have contacted and confirmed interviews with Ken Done, Barron Lynch, Bruce Gould, Tony Edwards among a dozen more.
I am hoping Peter Carey will contribute as a young writer for the Billy Blue Magazine.
What I am lacking is PR. I need all Social media and online content and strategy.
Press and publicity
And event management for the launch, which will hopefully be early 2022.
I would love to have a chat with you about any ideas you may have to meet the brief.
I have an office in Newport, alternatively we can do a zoom interview.
Hoping you see merit in this project and look forward to hearing from you soon.
