I have two logos (please find TIFF files attached) which I would like traced into Adobe Illustrator files.
For the file "Dierks Lumber & Coal [url removed, login to view]":
I need the logo type in the upper-left traced: the word Dierks, the words "Lumber & Coal Co", and the green pine branch. I'm not concerned about precise fidelity to the exact printing or scan, but I do want the digital version to be a close match, including the diagonal crosshatching. In particular, it's OK to clean up/improve some of the spots where this scan has weak outlines, such as the top of the "D", the lower-left edge of the tail of the "D", the weak line above the box framing "ierks", the overweight upper-right hand corner of that box, and the registration errors at the bottom of that box where the green branch bleeds over the black outline.
The words "Lumber & Coal Co" should either be directly traced or can be replaced with type if you have a font that's a very close match for the text, including small caps with the tiny serifs and the distinctive "&". If you plan to use this approach, please include an example of the font text with your bid proposal for approval.
The diagonal crosshatching should be in an independent layer of the art with a mask for its boundary, so I can adjust the weight & density of the crosshatching for good reproduction depending on size & reproduction method.
I do not need the other text in the scan traced ("Manufacturers of...", the address, or "Build Better with DRY Lumber")
For the file "Dierks Lumber [url removed, login to view]":
I need the main logo traced, including the "Dierks & Sons" and the piece of lumber below it with the words "LUMBER COMPANY". The "Dierks & Sons" should be traced with a clean line, the woodgrain on the piece of lumber can be similar to the scan, but doesn't need to match exactly. The "LUMBER COMPANY" text can be done with a font rather than specifically traced; an exact match isn't critical, but the font should be a similar sans-serif font with similar proportions. The optical weight of the woodgrain vs. the text should be similar in the digitized copy as it is to the scan; I'll want a printed copy of the digital art to have the same feel as this printed logo.
I do not need any other text in this scan traced or reproduced (the address in lower-right).
Any embedded fonts that are used should be converted to outlines.
Art should be of sufficient quality & detail to reproduce at 300 dpi, 2" tall with a good, clean look. The digital copies should be evocative of the printed ones; I'm not looking to improve the art as much as get it into a clean digital form for reproduction.
To be clear, the text "LUMBER COMPANY" on the board should match the scan in the perspective and angle of the text. It's probably more straightforward to trace the outline than to attempt to reproduce it with a font.
After a couple of upload failures, I'm trying renaming the first file to remove the "&" from the filename.
Another note on the text "LUMBER COMPANY": if traced, the letterforms should be independent of the woodgrain, not traced together as a single object. Thanks.
