Project Title: JPG > MPEG Platform: VC++, VB Project Description We are seeking a Windows software utility that will convert a series of JPG images into a MPEG movie. This software will be used with a network camera to display public and private movies via our website or on-demand. Our network cameras are AXIS 2100 series and more information can be found at axis.com. For the purposes of this spec, all the developer needs to know is that they are configured to FTP images to a specific directory on a internal W2K file server. On average, they will transmit 3-4 JPG images per second. The basic flow is: The program will scan a particular directory on the local machine (W2K Server) and will select all JPG images that have a time stamp equal to the current time or within 10 minutes. For example, if the current time was 24:00, it would select all JPEGS with a timestamp between 23:50 and 24:00. It will then compress them (in order of their timestamp) into a MPEG movie. Depending on the current settings (see interface spec), it will either use a static name for the movie or use a auto incremented name based on the first and last timestamp that it contains. When the movie is complete it will, depending on settings (see interface spec), upload via FTP to a remote web server and subdirectory or compress the archive via ZIP (or compatible) compression and transfer via NetBIOS network share to a local file server. Once the above cycle is complete, the program will ‘sleep’ until the next 10 minute cycle occurs. For example, in the above scenario, the program would sleep until 24:10, than repeat steps 1-3 for the time period of 24:00 ??" 24:10. Interface Spec The user interface will have a XP theme and should be intuitive. The basic options available to the user are: Selection of the local subdirectory to scan (non-recursive ??" a single directory) Option to auto increment file name or to use a static name. Option to transfer completed movies to remote server via FTP or local server via network share. Network settings for both FTP and NETBIOS destinations. ‘Go’ and ‘Stop’ buttons control the loop of steps 1-4, above. User can adjust the ‘capture window’ (the range of timestamps to include in the MPEG) up or down, but the default value is 10 minutes.
