We're in need of a special speed-reading piece of software for the Palm OS platform. Here's how it works:
There are two major windows; the word window and the text window. The word window quickly flashes each word in turn from the text window. This sounds complicated, so this is the general idea we're going for. ([url removed, login to view]) This is a program for the Pocket PC platform, but this is the idea we're going for.
We need these functions:
Basic function. (Takes text from text window and flashes it, one word at a time on word window.)
Can read PRC/PDB (Palm Reader format) ebooks.
Can open ebooks and memos from within program.
Text can be copied and pasted into text window.
User can toggle between monochrome and color versions.
User can change background color of text & word windows. (Just basic colors, and black, white, and grey for mono.)
User can change speed that words are displayed.
Box on GUI that shows Word Per Minute count.
Bar on GUI that shows how far through sentence word is.
Installed program must be kept below 1mb installed.
When program is closed, program automatically pauses.
When program is re-opened, last file is still open, at same point.
The demo must have the same functions as the full program, but cannot open files or paste text into the program. It will have text embedded into the program that cannot be changed.
This sounds complicated, but the idea is actually quite simple. For a general idea of what we need, go to the link above.
Unfotunately, last time we posted this, time ran out before the payment could be received. We inadvertently put too short a time limit. This time, it will be approx. one month.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
4) Demo. More details above.
Palm OS 3.x
Palm OS 4.x
(One version that's compatible with both OS versions is fine.)
