The task of this project is the implementation of a Data Dependent DCT Processor in [url removed, login to view] DCt processor that usually used in video coding must havew both coefficients and data signed.A VHDL model of DCT slice with distributed arithmetic is already contructed and based on that slice a timer must be implemented in order to control the operation of the DCT slice.(Its main operation are evaluation when the multiplier is 1 and bypass mode when the multiplier is 0).Afterwards, transition counters must be implemented also in VHDL-using FPGA Advantage software-Renoir- to the design to model energy consumption. The next step is to assemble slices into a complete 8 point DCT processor, and finally a conventional DCT processor to be implemented for comparison in terms of energy. The DCT slice that the next implementation will be based on is available.
The project must be complete and fully-functional in executable form as well as complete source code of all work [url removed, login to view] work should also presented in graphical form (blocks, symbols etc).Testing is also necessary fin order to certify the operation.
The software that must be used is FPGA Advantage-Renoir in HP workstation.
