A simplfied vehicle maintence system.
As we see it it should be the following.
When you open the program you see a small icon of the truck/vehicle (s) with the name and unit #. click on the Desired unit and it opens the information on that unit. there is complete detail information on the unit. Type/size/orignal cost/registration/insurance & so on. then at the top it should have 3 tabs. Maintence/repair\_\_Service needs/damage\_\_inspection.
click on inspection the supervisor has to fill in a group of questions, Current Miles, tire wear, fluids, & so on. It should have a "Notes area" for each new inspection. Also a area to link photos for that unit.
When you click on Service needs/damage it should ask for notes of the damage that occured, who did the damage, the date and miles when it occured, where, and if we choose to repair. It shopuld also be where a driver informs us of something wrong with the truck such as "needs a tire"
In the maintence/Repair It needs to be a detail by date of all the items that have been done to the truck. it should have the cost, who preformed, date, how long did it take, and notes for detail of what occured. Maybe we can even scan a copy of the invoice from the vendor in and attach it to the notes in pdf.
In the unit detail screen it should know the last item that was entered on the unit. It should blink if a maintance is needed. (for instance at every 7500 miles it needs a PM) it should blink if regarstion is coming due by date.
the only real reporting we see is how much have we spent on the truck per month/year and for what.
We would want it on one computer (photos & all attachments stored ther) and link it to the supervisors computers via our intranet.
open to all ideas we just want it simple.

We would like to use this as a Check in/out for the drivers also. the driver should be able to click on checkout then click the truck he will be using then his name and then answer basic questions. Miles, did you check fluids, any new damage and so on. then the reverse when he checks it back into the office. in both it needs to time/date stamp the action for a later review.
Please remember that most at our company are not compleatly computer savy. the less we ask them to do with in the system the better chance we have of getting them to use it. It would be easy to expand on a program like this but we want to keep it simple.
I am now leaning to using it in Access. please edit your bid if necessary.
