We are doing a project in which JPEGS of human cells need to be identified and given a location which is then written to a file that is to be imported into a database... we allready have the database and the work flow, what we need is the software to identify the cells in the jpegs... cells are usually rounded in shape with a single dot that represents the nucleus... what we want for output regarding a cell location is something like this:
JPEG name: name of file from which cell info is retrieved
Location of nucleus: x and y coords in pixels
Cell left boundary: x and y coords of leftmost edge of cell
Cell Boundry top: x and y coords of topmost edge of cell
Cell bottom:x and y coords of tbottom edge of cell
Cell right: x and y coords of right edge of cell
We also want to use these coordinates for the cell location against jpegs that may NOT show a nucleus. We need to use this information since some scans of human cells do not show a nucleus since the nucleus is not viewable in some ranges of light used bythe microscope...
The application will need to be run from a commandline as part of a workflow, but will also become a client side component of a web based workflow application.
