Brief for Travel writing for commercial and journalistic purposes website
This is a marketing website which offers travel writing for commercial and journalistic purposes.
The aim of the website is to market and promote travel copy writing services and myself as a writer and journalist. It also provides links to my social media presence and to my own travel blog. It states what the business is and what it does in summary, while setting out what the aims of the business are; what it wants to achieve and identifying who the intended audience is i.e. the audience for the business ranges from soloprenuers to start ups to formal B2B enterprises that specialise in travel.
The tone of website content should be informal, engaging and should use some wit. This is a client centred business. A core value is to aim to meet the ‘what’s-in-it-for-me’ mind-set of each client on an individual basis. As a writer providing services there must be a clear focus on the client not the person behind the copy. However, while the client may not be interested in the person behind the copy, it is OK to mention in passing some anecdotes/memorable facts about me, which I can provide, in an attempt to connect with the audience. This is to make the copy less dry making the business human and approachable.
As part of the research into competitors in the market I analysed the structure of these two sites below. I also looked at lengths of and formats of the text on each page. These websites can be used as a reference for the content.
