Frequency of event:
Within a given Monday - Sunday Week, an event happens only once for that week. Which day of the week, the event will happen, it's uncertain but it's certain that in that monday-sunday week, the event will happen only once.
The Event :
The event itself is an operation which pics up random samples from two sets of containers. 1st set consists of 35 containers numbered 1 to 35. Second set contains 20 containers numbered 1 to 20.
When the event occurs, 7 random samples are taken out of 35 containers of set 1 and 1 random sample is taken out of 20 containers of set 2. A sample can be taken from one container only.
For example after an event occurred, the Sample Set will look like
Set 1 Samples : 9, 23, 3, 30, 1, 17, 28 (i.e. 7 samples selected from 35 of Set 1 containers)
Set 2 Samples : 15 (i.e. 1 samples selected from 20 of Set 2 containers)
Such Sample is generated once every week, as per the frequency of the event.
The project is to create an occurrence table for both sets, which will tell after how many event triggers a sample has been selected.
For example, Let's say a sample number 12 in selected in Wk 3, Wk 7, Wk 14, Wk 20 triggers , the Occurance table should tell me 12 has occurred 4 (i.e. Wk 7 - Wk 3), 7 (i.e. Wk 14-Wk7), 6 (i.e. Wk20-Wk14)
For set 1, in the occurance table, the title row can be numbers from 1 to 35, left most column can be Occurance 1, Occurance 2 etc. The cells should be filled up as per the example given above.
A similar table should be created for Set 2 also.
There is no overlap between Set 1 & Set 2 at any stage. Please note that this is not about calculating the frequency of occurrence of a particular number. Frequency can be obtained by counting entries in the occurrence table, but that's not the main objective of the project.
