WordPress Developer with experience in building custom plugins

We're looking for a remote, freelance WordPress developer with strong PHP skills and experience working with custom plugins to join the Owned Sites team at Wise.
About the team
Owned Sites is part of the marketing team, and our focus is on acquiring new customers and driving revenue through a portfolio of websites outside of Wise.com. Exiap, a transparent international money transfer comparison website, is a good example of this. When a user goes to Exiap, they can dynamically search the currencies and amounts they are interested in, and Exiap will return provider's fees (powered by API) so that the customer can choose the best result.
The team is made up of 6 full time Wise employees with a mix of technical ability, and a senior full stack freelance developer that plays an integral role in the team's mission.

About the role
- The team manages ~50 websites that are built on a variety of tech stacks. You will be:
- Contributing directly to the team's mission by working on our WordPress portfolio
- Completing tasks assigned to you by the team in Asana
- Proactively identifying opportunities to drive growth based the team's goals
- Working asynchronously between front end and back, while managing partner APIs
About you
- You have experience and track record of working with the newest versions of WordPress and APIs
- You have experience working with WP plugins such as W3 Total Cache Wordfence, SiteOrigin - Premium, SiteOrigin Widgets, AMP, PWA, tagDiv
- You're confident using version control systems such as git/github
- You have a professional and can do attitude to work
- You are a proactive communicator and can consult non-technical members of the team on technical tasks
- You work well within a team environment
- You are flexible and happy working across multiple projects simultaneously
