To help a financial institution onboard new clients with eKYC we need to develop an API using a combination of OCR and computer vision to perform the following steps:
Step 1 : User opens the Institutions web page in the browser (mobile or desktop) and logs in
Step 2 : User selects onboarding process and this will call a js/css/html component (eKYC Wrapper) that opens up the camera for capture
Step 3 : User takes a picture / snapshot of the customers Malaysian NRIC front and then back using the device camera. The cropping and resizing of the image will be performed at the browser level before the image is sent to the server via ajax request
Step 4 : The eKYC server will perform the preprocessing and OCR on the image, detection of NRIC (to confirm this is real NRIC) and watermark the image. The original image will be deleted from the temporary directory
Step 5 - The image sent back together with ocr data to client (for reusabilities in the future). Image data format to be base64 or binary
