We are a small company specialising in CCTV installations for wildlife watching in the UK. We put cameras into bird nest boxes, artificial badger setts, beaver lodges, otter holts, as well as underwater to watch fish, inside bird feeders and next to tree-top nest of birds of prey and herons etc.
We install viewing systems for our cameras, mostly in nature reserve visitor centres, and provide specialist software for users to be able to choose between cameras and to control pan-tilt-zoom functions on PTZ cameras.
Our wildlife watching systems are nearly all based on IP cameras and our software is written for Windows PCs and tablets, mostly in C#, with the UI in VB.net. The software is relatively simple (see attached user guide) but there is an on-going need to maintain it (e.g. as operating systems change) and to add new camera APIs and enhanced functions. We would also like to explore the potential to port the software functions to Android and iOS smartphones and tablets.
For several years we have been working with an excellent software contractor who understood our market and the intricacies of coding for IP cameras. Sadly for us, he has decided to change his career and we are now looking for someone on Freelancer to take his place.
Our current need is to add support for a new camera: Redvision PTZ IP camera ([login to view URL]). Our previous programmer has written a document describing the task and the skill set needed to complete it and to help us with other, future projects.
We wish to build a long-lasting, professional relationship with a software engineer who can help us from time-to-time to enhance and expand our software. Please note that the software will only be operable with our camera installations and is therefore not a mass market product.
