Job Description:
aimed primarily to analyse the slot dimensions of 0.022-inch orthodontic brackets from six popular manufacturers using three-dimensional measurement, in comparison with manufacturer-stated dimensions. Secondary aims included the assessment of intra-bracket variation; the accuracy of traditional two-dimensional measurement in comparison with three-dimensional measurement; and whether catalogue bracket prices reflect slot size accuracy.
Methods: 5 UR1 brackets, 5 UR2 brackets, and 5 UR3 brackets from six popular manufacturers (i.e. 15 brackets per system) were measured by two operators in both three dimensions (from mesial & distal aspects) and two dimensions (from mesial aspect alone) using a Microscope.
