Job Description:
We're looking for someone experienced in database operations to build an operations control application that tracks each step in our data management processes, provides visualizations (using the Sigma platform), and alerts when parameters fall outside specification. The role will test this application by moving into a systems administrator function to ensure operations continuity. There is opportunity for shifting to employment role once the application is built and tested.
Our data platform handles the ingestion of about 1million new rows daily, with continual processing and publishing of this data. Operational reliability and cost-effective scalability is critical to our business success. Data is ingested, processed, and presented in a stack that includes custom web crawlers hosted in AWS EC2 and S3, publishing applications in Snowflake and Redshift, and processing applications in AWS Redshift, AWS Glue, and Snowflake/Snowpipe. We use Sigma for data visualization because it is very easy to develop in, integrates extremely well with Snowflake, and can handle very large datasets with high performance.
The application this role will build and run will need to track operations across this entire stack, including monitoring and alerting on operations parameters as well as data continuity at the field level.
This position requires a combination of process management and development skills. Strong experience with both Redshift and Snowflake are required, as is experience building python applications to support ETL and process management. Experience with operations management or process optimization is desired. Fluency in English is required. Experience with Sigma is not required.
