Geo-Chemical Diagenesis of Proppant Packs in Stimulated Wells

The purpose of this paper was to investigate the effect of the geo-chemical diagenesis in proppant packs as a result of interactions between proppants, formation fluids, formation minerals and fracturing fluids under conditions of high temperature and high pressure and its impact on permeability loss. Data pertaining to mineralogy, compositions and fluids is derived from literature and used to build a case study which supports this work.

Mathematical Modeling of Stimulated Shale Gas Reservoirs

This paper utilizes a fracture-completed horizontal well in different configurations of quad-porosity shale gas reservoir models to assess the effect of gas flow and storage in these systems on production parameters. A mathematical model was developed which characterizes the change in width of the created fracture, due to the phenomenon of diffusion and precipitation.

Impact of Proppant Diagenesis on Shale Gas Productivity

A mathematical model was developed in this paper. It inculcates the phenomenon of mass transfer along the length of the fracture coupled with associated surface chemical reactions, and mass conservation equations are solved for individual components. Further, the impact of finite difference techniques on the results is studied. This is supplemented with studies involving changes in fracture aperture as well as velocity profile of the flowing fluid.

Shale Gas Productivity: A Geo-chemical Diagenesis Perspective

I assisted my supervisor in writing this paper and our was presented by him at SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition on 28-30 September held at Houston, Texas, USA.
